Over the summer, greenhouses can overheat. Ventilation is needed to remove excess hot air. Ridge vents will allow hot air to escape, while windows or eave sashes bring in fresh air. Even with ventilation, the greenhouse may overheat, which is damaging to plants. Due to this, a secondary cooling unit may be necessary. Solar Innovations offers evaporative coolers for greenhouses. The customer determines a maximum temperature for the greenhouse, after the heat rises past this point, the cooler turns on and lowers the temperature. A typical greenhouse will range between 75-85 during the summer, depending on what is being grown.
