Container gardening is a popular summer activity. Growing plants in containers is very rewarding with several benefits. If a plant is grown in a container, there are rocks or hard soil to fight. The plants will stay contained and not grow wild. Containers are available in countless styles and colors, which will add interest to your home. You can grow both plants and vegetables in containers. A dull back porch or patio gains instant color and design by adding container gardens. Pictured here is a container that frames the front entrance to Solar's corporate building. As the season progresses, the plants will grow and fill out the pot. Planting annuals will supply the container with consistent color for the entire summer months. As a rule of thumb, I put a vining plant in the container, mid-size ones in the middle, and tall plants such as grasses or papyrus plants in the back.
