Solar Innovations, Inc. PV Panel Update

Solar Innovations, Inc.’s corporate manufacturing facility is currently registered as a LEED “Gold” building and is currently working to upgrade to the highest level of certification: Platinum.
Our facility’s first phase of solar electric array is 90% completed. All 1806 solar panels have been installed and only the wiring and inspection are needed before the project can be completed.
When Solar’s array is complete and operational, we will transition to additional projects that will contribute to our upgraded LEED certification, gain necessary points, and achieve a Platinum rating. This will include the restoration of the stream on Solar’s property, monitoring adjustments to the building’s operations software, and other employee environmental satisfaction r

Solar Innovations, Inc. Installs Turtle Conservatory

Solar Innovations, Inc. recently installed a SI5270 straight eave, double pitch sunroom with one gable end, featuring a straight eave double pitch conservatory nose in the Northeast. The irregular sunroom structure came equipped with a number of Solar accessories, including 15 insulated vent awning windows, an aluminum residential door with Milan handle, one aluminum residential French door, shear weave interior roof mounted operable shades, one three-bay insulated operable ridge vent, one thermostat to control the motorized ridge vent, restoration gutter, and two 3" aluminum round spouts. The room is going to be used to house the resident’s turtles. The clear tempered glazing in the sunroom allows the turtles to have natural sunlight, while being protected from the dangers of the outside world. Motorized systems protect the turtles from over exposure to the sun. This project is a prime example of how Solar can accommodate unique details in any project for any reason.

Solar Innovations Trellis

Indoor trellises are a great art piece to the greenhouse.   I found an outdoor tripod at a garden show and bought it for the greenhouse.  It was designed for the exterior, so it will weather fine inside with the plants.  A greenhouse has a tendency to be flat.  There are a lot of flower pots, and colors but heights do not always change.   Many people have the same 2-3' height on all their flowers.  A trellis adds height, visual differences, color and texture.  The trellis I bought was placed on the raised bed.   I grew nasturtium up the poles.  It has been slow to bloom but it is about 5' tall and includes waves of orange.

Solar Innovations, Inc. A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words!

If you have previously worked with Solar Innovations, Inc. as the primary contact on a project, you may know that Solar is REALLY BIG on photographs.  When you get a call from your estimator, project manager, shipping coordinator, or sales representative requesting photos, the intent of our request is to make your job and ours a bit smoother from quote to installation.

QUOTE
Upon initial quote, you may be asked to provide site photos, as well as photos of the surrounding structures. This allows our team to be certain that the site will be able to “accept” the product you have requested and ensure that the structure will fit with the surrounding architecture. 
Again during the installation and/or product pick-up or delivery phases, the Solar project manager will request photos.  Each of the following services has specific photo requirements to ensure efficiency.  The Solar team will ask for two sets of photos: one set before drawings are created, and if Solar is installing, one set taken 72 hours before we go to the site to ensure the site reflects what we had expected.  The second set of photos will help us to finish the last minutes details and be sure our crews have the appropriate equipment to complete the job safely.

PICK UP
When customers pick up a product with their own equipment, it is especially important to have photographs (and dimensions) of the vehicle that will be used. Often times, our product packaging and type of crate supplied is affected by the pick-up vehicle.  Knowing whether the crate will be side loaded or loaded from the rear of the truck, and if the product pieces will be wrapped independently or not is critical.  Also, having the maximum weight of the vehicle can make things much easier for our team.  Solar makes every effort to use green methods and greater efficiency when packing, so all of this information can help us to preserve our natural environment. 

INSTALLATION
Pictures of the openings for operable doors and windows  and photos of curbs for skylights and structures are needed for installation.  If base walls are included, please send photographs of the base walls.  Photos of the area surrounding the structure are exceptionally important as well because it allows for logistics planning for site installation.  They should allow the team to see where the product is being installed (first or second floor, etc.) so the team can determine if the ground is in an acceptable condition for scaffolding and if ladders are going to be appropriate. 

DELIVERY
For delivery, and ultimately installation, photos from the delivery point to the installation location are exceptionally helpful as they can show any entry ways the product will be carried through, the number of stairs required to reach the installation site, and any other obstructions which our packing department must prepare for and obstacles  the installation team will face. 

COMPLETION
It is also important to note that finished photographs are required for warranty validation. Please send your finished project photos to your project’s PM.
By taking the time to submit photos for your project, especially for shipping/pick up and installation, and the job site, Solar can be better prepared and maximize the efficiency of time for all parties involved.  For instructions on sending photos via e-mail or using the Solar FTP site, please contact your sales representative or project manager for instructions. Solar Innovations Inc. Bromelaid

My pink bromelaid has bloomed, aechmea fasciata .   This is very exciting.  I had read that it could take up to two years before it bloomed again.  To my delight it was only a year.  I completely missed it starting a spike.  I walked into the greenhouse one day and suddenly it was there.  Last year I split the plant into three new plants.  I had two in the greenhouse and one planted in the ground.  Oddly enough, the ones in the greenhouse bloomed but the one in the ground did not.  My guess is that the ground plant did not receive enough water, as the plant likes to be consistently moist.   The plant gives what looks like purple seeds, but in fact, the blue piece is its flower.  There are no seeds and the plant can only be propogated by seperation.
