I am trying to grow upside down tomatoes in the greenhouse. I was successful last year and decided to give it a go again. Instead of buying a unit already made, I created my own. I use 5 gallon jugs and insert a hole at the bottom for the plant. This year the tomatoes grew much slower. The plants seemed to be stunned and unable to grow any larger than the original seedling. To circumvent this problem I started fertilizing it every week. The trick worked and after two weeks the plant finally started to grow. Any tomatoes that it gives will be late but that has no significance in a greenhouse. We will have fresh tomatoes into fall.
