Solar Innovations, Inc. Installs Enclosed Walkway

Solar Innovations, Inc. recently installed a SI5201 custom “T” shaped double pitch walkway system with no gable ends in the Northeast.  52 operable awning windows with crank dyad operators and Bronze Duracron handles were included throughout the walkway system.  The clear tempered side glazing allows walkers to see out each side of the system at the street below.  Dark Bronze Anodized structural paneling on the roof eliminates glares from the sun.  The goal of the Dark Bronze Anodized system was to enclose the walkway between three buildings to protect people from the elements while walking to the different buildings.

Solar Innovations, Inc. Thermal Certification Update

Solar Innovations, Inc. has recently received its full thermal reports for its Tilt Turn and Mulled systems. These systems have performed as expected. Both the Tilt Turn and Mulled Window systems will be NFRC rated and energy star compliant (based on glass selection). We now have triple pane glass configurations that are below the rebatable required .3U value, which is superb performance for an aluminum system. We are currently working on updated FGW thermal characteristics and 8000 series Sliding products. These are up for NFRC renewal during 2011 and will be updated with our newer, more efficient product generations.

Fall Dahlias

Flower gardening basically stops during October.  This is when the temperature drastically falls and plants stop growing. When you say fall flowers everyone automatically thinks of mums.  This is a great flower, available in so many colors.  It adds a splash of color to the fading leaves.  My favorite fall flower is the dahlia.  It starts blooming at the end of August and will continue through October and even into November with mild temperatures.  There are more varieties of dahlias than mums and much more exotic colors and patterns.  There are dinner plate dahlias which are about 12" across.  The pompom dahlia is compact with layers of petals. The orchid type looks like its name, with single blooms.  The cactus dahlia has thin pointy leaves.  Every color is found with dahlias: pink, purple, white, green, red and orange.  Some dahlias are solid colors, while others have spots, speckles and stripes.  They add beautiful color and texture to gardens.  This one shown is called Christmas.

Solar Innovations, Inc. is proud to offer customers a contemporary conservatory option. The correlation is often drawn between conservatories and the word “traditional”.  Historically, conservatories feature a very decorative design:  grids, finials, ridge cresting, and base panels.  Classically styled homes and businesses typically feature conservatories that are ornamental in appearance. While the majority of conservatories follow the classical guidelines, modern appearances are becoming increasingly popular and can be custom manufactured by Solar Innovations, Inc.

A contemporary conservatory retains all the functions of its traditional counterparts. In residential settings the space can still be used for entertaining, growing plants, or as a pool enclosure.  In contrast business can utilize conservatories for additional retail space. The unit will feature doors, windows and ventilation.  Solar Innovations, Inc. can provide environmental containment systems to maintain appropriate cooling in the summer and heating in the winter.

Solar Innovations, Inc.’s conservatories are manufactured from aluminum that will not rust, rot, or require constant maintenance. This framework is constructed with a thermal break, to minimize thermal transfer. Conservatories can also feature wood interiors; the maintenance-free, aluminum exterior protects the delicate wood interior from environmental extremes. Solid Mahogany and Spanish Cedar can be used, along with laminates of Southern Yellow Pine, Western Red Cedar, Douglas Fir, and Northern White Pine (straight eave applications only). Designs frequently feature linear appearances; horizontal mullions are positioned close to each other and grids can be used to create for a defined, linear look. Modern accent pieces can be custom manufactured to match the conservatory’s façade. Instead of using a Palladian arch, for example, a simple circle can be added to the gable end. 

Historic conservatories often feature Hartford green, bronze and sandstone finishes.  A modern conservatory can be any color, but blues, silvers, blacks and grays help to achieve the contemporary aesthetic.  Incorporating a tinted glass, such as blue and green glass tints, can also add an additional modern element to the design.

Solar Innovations Inc. Advantages of Having Enclosed Walkways and Canopies

Solar Innovations, Inc. is a custom manufacturer of a variety of custom aluminum structures.  Two applications Solar can manufacture are walkways and canopies.  By enclosing and/or covering walkways and canopies, Solar can provide protection from the elements.  Solar Innovations, Inc.’s walkways and canopies are manufactured from aluminum that will not rust, rot, or require constant maintenance. Fall Harvest

Gardening is coming to an end now that fall is upon us.  Temperatures are dropping and it is time for the plant world to hiberate.  I started cleaning out my vegetable garden. The corn came out, along with a lot of the tomatoe plants.  The melons are definitely finished.  While these plants are done for the year, there are still a few that will produce into cool weather.  This is a picture of some vegetables recently harvested.  The quantities are definitely much less than in summer, but still exciting.  The cabbage that was grown the entire summer has finally ripened enough for harvesting.  We have four more heads that are almost ready to pick.  The last of the tomatoes are ripening and a couple pepper plants are still holding strong.  Radishes and carrots were planted for fall harvests and we will hopefully be able to grow them to maturity.  The garden was successful this summer.  It suffered a flood and other severe rain storms.  All the plants were started late, and planted even later.   Despite these facts we still were able to get a small harvest.
