The orchid greenhouse is still in full bloom after two months. The first orchids started to bloom in December and there are still several more plants with blooms. To date there have been over ten orchids to bloom. All of the plants seem to enjoy and prosper in their environment. Hydronic heating is used to control the temperature, with misting and circulation fans running constantly. The glass in the roof and walls is a low-e 240 glass which lets in 40% of visible light compared to 70 or 60% with other low-e glass types. Orchids are a low light plant which burn when exposed to bright light, making 40% an acceptable choice. Several of the orchids have bloomed for around six weeks, a novelty not found with regular outdoor plants.
